課程簡介

本課程旨在增進學生聽說讀寫四方面技能整合性之運用以及培養學生自主與合作學習的能力。教學方式以啟發學生自我學習為主,在教師協助下,配合視聽教材及電腦網路資源的運用,安排學生,或個人或小組,加強聽講、會話、閱讀和寫作之練習,並佐以學習策略之訓練。

英語的學習應不僅限於學校課堂裡,因此本課程為培養學生自主性學習,將輔導學生自行規畫課內外之語言學習,於學期末完成個人學習歷程檔案。

Course Description

The purpose of this course is to develop in the students integrated skills in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing as well as the ability for autonomous and cooperative learning. In the student-centered classroom, students will be guided to use language learning strategies for effective learning and to practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing individually, in pairs, or in small groups with audio-visual materials and resources from the Internet.

The course welcomes those students who take their learning seriously and have a strong drive to improve their own English proficiency. Since English learning should not be limited in the classroom, students will be encouraged to plan their own language learning, participate in group and web-based activities, make good use of language learning resources on campus, and complete personal English portfolio at the end of the semester.

課程要求 (Course Requirements)
    1. 開學第一週必須出席確認選課。
    2. 因課程設計之故,歡迎有意願使用電腦及網際網路的學生,以及每週除上課四小時外,願意自己安排等量時間完成預習、複習功課。
    3. 修課學生請準時到校上課,充分準備並積極參與討論及練習活動,每週按時完成作業,以獲得最大學習成效。上課遲到者須主動報到,有事請假或早退者,須事先報備,以免誤記為該堂課缺席。
    4. 課程評量著重平時、聽說讀寫多樣化評量,包含課堂參與、隨堂練習測驗、定期作業(含自設作業及線上練習)、及學習歷程檔案。考試作弊按校規處分。缺席當日之隨堂練習,最遲一週內將補做練習於課堂交給助教或於線上完成,遲交練習成績扣百分之十。平時作業最遲一週內補交,遲交作業成績扣百分之二十。作業練習超過一週期限未完成者,不予計分。
    5. 未能到校上課者,請依規定請假。未經准假或假期已滿而缺課者,以曠課論,曠課一小時,以請假五小時論。請假達三分之一者,成績以零分計算。(請參照國立臺灣大學學則第四章)。
    6. 同學需積極參與小組討論,充分準備並完成相關作業,包含閱讀札記、閱讀分享及小組口頭報告。開學第四週交口頭報告計畫提案書(presentation proposal),上台報告前10天電郵寄投影片、講義及講稿給助教及教師檢查,並事先與助教排定前一週完整排演一次,小組需控制整組報告時間務必於20~22分鐘內完成,切勿過短或超時。小組短劇劇本及講義請於指定日期前電郵寄給教師查閱,詳細內容於課堂討論。
    7. 學期初同學可依個人需求,除了本班平時作業基本要求外,自行訂定學習目標及規劃選擇自設作業,規律練習英語聽說讀寫。自設作業分兩階段完成(第一階段自第4週至第9週,第二階段自第10週至第15週),截止日期為4/17及5/29。期末完成自我評量。
    8. 同學需每週定期上本課程網,留心最新公告與注意事項。

Contents and themes for Group presentations will be decided on the 3rd week. Proposal for the presentation should be submitted on 4th week.
Each group will meet the instructor for oral practice (interview or role play). Be prepared.
